I did not get to see the linked listing, but I once was walking through the engineering building at the University of Utah, and saw, parked in the ground floor lobby, purring beautifully, a go-kart with a liter-class motorcycle engine.
It was their entry in some kind of engineering competition. The students have access to a very nice machine shop, so the kart had machined alloy wheels, aluminum frame, some carbon fiber bits (back when that was new stuff). It was gorgeous.
So, maybe that is what inspired whoever built the one that was for sale. Or, maybe that's what it was. I wish I could have seen the listing.
